ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to evaluate the growth in plant height, stem base diameter, survival rate, and ecophysiology of Acacia mangium and Mimosa caesalpiniifolia plants with and without inoculation with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (Rhizophagus clarus) in areas degraded by mining in the municipality of Itaporanga D’Ajuda, SE, Brazil. The experiment was conducted with plants grown with spacing of 3 × 3 m in areas degraded by sand and gravel mining in Itaporanga D’Ajuda, using plants of the species Acacia mangium and Mimosa caesalpiniifolia. Four treatments were used: Acacia mangium without AMF; Mimosa caesalpiniifolia without AMF; Acacia mangium with AMF; Mimosa caesalpiniifolia with AMF. Plants from each treatment were evaluated for plant height, stem base diameter, survival rate and ecophysiological parameters at 12 months after planting. The forest legume Mimosa caesalpiniifolia inoculated with mycorrhizal fungi (Rhizophagus clarus) presented the best results in plant height, survival rate, and photosynthetic efficiency, at twelve months after planting. Plants in the treatment with Acacia mangium without inoculation with mycorrhizal fungi (Rhizophagus clarus) had the largest stem base diameters and second highest plant heights. However, the lowest survival rate of the plants may have caused overestimation of the results of stem base diameter and plant height.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o crescimento em altura, diâmetro, a taxa de sobrevivência e a ecofisiologia de Acacia mangium e Mimosa caesalpiniifolia inoculadas com fungos micorrízicos arbusculares (Rhizophagus clarus) e sem inoculação em área degradada de mineração no município de Itaporanga D’Ajuda, SE. O experimento foi implantado no espaçamento de 3x3 m em uma área degradada por mineração de areia e cascalhos no município de Itaporanga D’Ajuda, SE com as espécies Acacia mangium (Acacia) e Mimosa caesalpiniifolia (Sabiá). Foram definidos quatro tratamentos: Acacia mangium sem FMA; Mimosa caesalpiniifolia sem FMA; Acacia mangium com FMA; Mimosa caesalpiniifolia com FMA. As plantas de cada tratamento foram avaliadas quanto à altura da planta, diâmetro da base do caule, taxa de sobrevivência e parâmetros ecofisiológicos aos 12 meses após o plantio, utilizando 5 plantas selecionadas ao acaso por tratamento. Doze meses após o plantio conclui-se: a leguminosa florestal Mimosa caesalpiniifolia inoculada com fungos micorrízicos Rhizophagus clarus apresentou os melhores resultados em altura, taxa de sobrevivência e eficiência fotossintética. A Acacia mangium sem inoculação com fungos micorrízicos Rhizophagus clarus teve o maior diâmetro e a segunda maior altura. Porém a menor taxa de sobrevivência pode ter superestimado os resultados de diâmetro e altura.

Abstract An adequate amount of soil organic matter is considered essential for long-term sustainable agriculture, ensuring good productivity. Therefore, the present study quantified carbon and nitrogen stocks and microbiological activity in soil of three different areas: Forest-pasture System, Pasture System and preserved Caatinga - used as a reference of the experiment - located in a semi-arid region, in Watershed of Pajeú River, state of Pernambuco, Brazil. Eight trenches were opened in each system to collect soil samples at depths of 0 - 10, 20 - 30 and 50 - 60 cm, for chemical and microbiological analysis. In general, attributes of soil showed better results of land use in the following order: preserved Caatinga - Forest-pasture System - Pasture System.

Resumo A atividade microbiana se mostra bastante sensível a mudanças da cobertura, tornando-se um importante indicador de qualidade do solo. O estudo teve como objetivo avaliar as alterações nas atividades microbiológicas do solo sob as diferentes coberturas vegetais no cerrado do Tocantins. O trabalho foi desenvolvido em áreas de Eucalyptus sp., pastagem, agricultura e cerrado sensu stricto na fazenda experimental da Universidade Federal do Tocantins. As amostras de solo foram coletadas em trincheiras de 70 x 70 cm nas profundidades 0-10 e 10-20 cm, com seis repetições. As variáveis avaliadas foram: concentração e estoque de carbono na biomassa microbiana, respiração basal do solo, quociente metabólico e quociente microbiano. A análise estatística foi realizada por meio do teste de normalidade, análise de variância e comparação das médias pelo teste Tukey a 5% de significância. A área com Eucalyptus sp. com 11 anos apresentou uma atividade microbiológica do solo estável, apresentando estoques de carbono na biomassa microbiana superiores em 57,32 % aos da vegetação de mata nativa, 84,29 % ao da pastagem e 290,91 % ao da agricultura. As atividades microbiológicas do solo são afetadas pela variação da cobertura vegetal do solo, sendo eficiente como indicador de qualidade do solo.

Abstract The microbial activity is very sensitive to changes in soil cover, making it an important indicator of soil quality. The study aimed to assess changes in soil microbiological activities under different vegetation coverings in the Cerrado biome of Tocantins state. The work was developed in areas of Eucalyptus sp., Pasture, agriculture and Cerrado sensu stricto in the experimental farm of the Federal University of Tocantins. The soil samples were collected in trenches of 70 x 70 cm at depths 0-10 and 10-20 cm, with six replications. The variables evaluated were: concentration and stock in the microbial biomass carbon, basal soil respiration, metabolic quotient and microbial quotient. The statistical analysis was performed using the normality test, analysis of variance and comparison of means by the Tukey test at 5% significance. The area with Eucalyptus sp. at 11 years of age, he had a stable soil microbiological activity, showing stocks in microbial biomass carbon 57.32% higher than that native forest vegetation, 84.29% that pasture and 290.91% that agriculture. The soil microbiological activities are affected by the variation of the soil vegetation cover, being efficient as an indicator of soil quality.

RESUMO A intensa antropização no baixo do rio São Francisco e áreas adjacentes geram risco de degradação ambiental e, sobretudo, torna essa área mais suscetível a processos erosivos. O objetivo do estudo identificar e correlacionar os atributos físicos e químicos que potencializam os processos erosivos e estabilidade dos taludes em margens de curso de água no baixo curso do Rio São Francisco, estado Sergipe, Brasil. As amostras de solos deformada e indeformadas foram coletadas na região do Baixo rio São Francisco, município de Amparo de São Francisco, Sergipe, em Neossolo Flúvico. Foram realizadas análises físicas (densidade, porosidade e textura) e químicas (pH, Capacidade de Troca de Cátions, saturação por bases, micro e macronutrientes no solo). Os camadas superficiais (Ap e AC) apresentaram superiores atributos físicos e maior teor de carbono orgânico que os demais camadas. O carbono orgânico, fosfóro e os micronutrientes obtiveram correlação negativa com a densidade do solo, onde um maior teor destes elementos nos camadas Ap e AC resultam em menor densidade do solo. As caracteristicas pedologicas das camadas do perfil avaliado não proporcionam uma resistência a erosão hidrica.

ABSTRACT The intense anthropization in the lower São Francisco River and surrounding areas can lead to environmental degradation risks and, above all, makes the area more susceptible to soil erosion. This study aimed to identify and correlate the physical and chemical properties able to enhance erosive processes and slope instability in the watercourse margins of the lower São Francisco River, in Sergipe State, Brazil. To this end, disturbed and undisturbed samples of an Entisol-Fluvent soil were collected in the region, specifically in the city of Amparo de São Francisco. Physical (density, porosity, and texture) and chemical (pH, cation exchange capacity, base saturation, micro-, and macronutrients) analyses were performed. All physical properties and organic carbon contents were higher in the surface layers (Ap and AC) compared to the others. Organic carbon, phosphorus, and micronutrients had a negative correlation with soil density, showing higher contents and lower soil densities in the Ap and AC layers. The pedological characteristics of the evaluated soil layers are unable to provide soil resistance to water erosion.

Resumo Este artigo apresenta uma visão geral da aplicação das técnicas de bioengenharia de solos também conhecidas como engenharia natural no estado de Sergipe, nordeste do Brasil, mostrando a importância da integração de elementos vivos e inertes para controlar a erosão nas margens dos rios. São abordados aspectos que vão desde a caracterização da susceptibilidade à erosão até o uso de biotécnicas, considerando conhecimentos das áreas da engenharia agronômica, engenharia florestal, engenharia civil, biologia, pedologia, geologia, geomorfologia e geotecnia. É uma abordagem que trabalha técnicas e metodologias de forma multidisciplinar buscando maximizar sinergias (por exemplo, técnicas de engenharia natural para combinar materiais inertes de maneira a ajudar as plantas a desenvolver sistemas cada vez mais eficientes). Essa abordagem também considera na condução dos trabalhos, a otimização de custos de manutenção, com uso de materiais diversos, diferente da engenharia tradicional que usa predominantemente materiais inertes. Os trabalhos de pesquisa conduzidos em diferentes localidades consideraram a disponibilidade de materiais locais como rochas, geotêxteis fabricados a partir de fibras da flora nativa ou mesmo disponíveis no mercado, além da utilização das espécies nativas para repovoamento das margens ou taludes, adequadas às condições ecológicas dos ambientes do Nordeste do Brasil. Também foi considerado o tamanho e alcance tecnológico e ecológico, além de objetivos estéticos apresentando diferentes biotécnicas adaptadas para diferentes situações.

Abstract This article presents an overview of the application of soil bioengineering techniques, also modeled as natural engineering, in the state of Sergipe, northeastern Brazil, showing the importance of integrating living and inert elements to protect river banks from erosion. The employed techniques are different, ranging from the characterization of susceptibility to erosion to the use of biotechniques, considering knowledge in the areas of agronomic engineering, forestry engineering, civil engineering, biology, pedology, geology, geomorphology and geotechnics. It is an approach that uses techniques and methodologies in a multidisciplinary way, seeking to maximize synergies (for example, natural engineering techniques to combine inert materials in ways that help plants to develop increasingly efficient systems). This approach also considers maintenance-cost optimization in the conduction of the works, using different materials, differing from traditional engineering, which uses predominantly inert materials. The research work carried out in different locations sought the availability of local materials such as rocks, geotextiles made from fibers from the native flora or even available on the market, in addition to the use of native species to recovery of the banks or slopes, according to the ecological conditions of the northeastern Brazil. Size and technological and ecological reach were also considered, in addition to different biotechnical aesthetic objectives adapted to different situations.

Abstract Soil organic matter has great importance in chemical, physical and biological processes in soil-plant system. This study aimed to evaluate changes in carbon humic fractions of soil organic matter under different vegetation coverings in Cerrado in Tocantins, Brazil. The work was developed in Eucalyptus sp., Pasture, Agriculture and Cerrado sensu stricto areas. Soil samples were collected in dry period, October, 2018, in trenches 70 x 70 cm at depths 0-10, 10-20, 20-30, 30-40 and 40-50 cm, with six replications. The vegetation cover in Eucalyptus sp. area showed higher levels of total carbon in soil humic fraction. Respectively fulvic acid, humic acid and humin in Eucalyptus sp. area had stocks of 22.09; 2.71 and 20.01% higher than native forest, 32.04; 2.57 and 35.59% higher than pasture and 10.59; 19.19 and 7.61% higher than the agriculture area. Among the different areas evaluated, the soil of Eucalyptus sp. has great potential to increase carbon storage in soil humic fractions.

RESUMO A erosão do solo é um dos maiores problemas em muitas partes do mundo com impactos diretos e indiretos representando um problema muito sério na agricultura e sustentabilidade ambiental, afetando a fertilidade e qualidade do solo. Elevada erosão do solo e altas cargas de sedimentos são problemas sérios em várias regiões semiáridas no Brasil. No intuito de aplicar procedimentos de mitigação, são necessários uma estimação precisa da erosão do solo e produção de sedimentos. Este trabalho visa a abordagem do Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) na quantificação da erosão em sulcos e avaliação das relações físicas e hidráulicas, essenciais para investigar o desempenho do modelo. Com este objetivo, o experimento foi desenvolvido na região semiárida da bacia hidrográfica do Exu, Serra Talhada - Pernambuco (Brasil), através de aplicações crescentes de diferentes vazões: T1: 5,87 L min-1; T2: 12,10 L min-1; T3: 20,33 L min-1 e T4: 27,57 L min-1. Amostras de descargas líquidas e sólidas foram coletadas para determinação e caracterização dos parâmetros hidráulicos da vazão nos sulcos pré-estabelecidos. Os números de Reynolds entre 2.019 e 6.929 e de Froude abaixo de 1, atestaram a ocorrência de sulcos erosivos. As perdas de solo devido à erosão nos sulcos foram elevadas após os crescentes fluxos aplicados e o valor da erodibilidade do sulco obtido foi de 0,0011 kg N-1 s-1 e a tensão crítica de cisalhamento (tc) de 1,91 Pa causando o colapso das paredes laterais, elevação da área, perímetro molhado e o raio hidráulico dos sulcos experimentais.

ABSTRACT Soil erosion is a major environmental problem in many parts of the world and represents a serious problem for sustainable agriculture and the environment, with direct and indirect impacts on soil quality and fertility. This study aimed to use the Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) model to estimate rill erosion and determine soil physical and hydraulic properties, which are essential to investigate its performance. To this end, an experiment was carried out in the Exu Creek watershed, in Serra Talhada, semi -arid region of Pernambuco State (Brazil), under increasing flow rates: T1: 5.87 L min-1; T2: 12.10 L min-1; T3: 20.33 L min1; and T4: 27.57 L min-1. Liquid and solid discharges were sampled for determination and characterization of hydraulic parameters in preformed rill flows. Reynolds numbers between 2,019 and 6,929 and Froude numbers below 1 found in this study attest to occurrence of erosive rills. Soil losses due to rill erosion increased as flow rates increased. Rill erodibility was 0.0011 kg N-1 s-1, and critical shear stress (tc) was 1.91 Pa, collapsing rill sidewalls and increasing local uplift, wet perimeter, and rill hydraulic radius.

Abstract This study aimed to assess soil chemical attributes, organic matter fractions and carbon stocks of forest in three different regeneration stages in the Serra de Itabaiana National Park, Sergipe. The study was conducted in three areas: open white sands, intermediate white sands, and closed white sands, with a history of differentiated degradation. Soil samples were collected at 0-20 cm depth for chemical characterization and for fractionation of soil organic matter and C stock. The open white sands obtained the best results regarding levels of macronutrients, total organic carbon, and total soil nitrogen, as well as higher carbon/nitrogen ratio compared with intermediate white sands and closed white sands, with such effects being attributed to recent exposure to fire. Carbon concentrations in humic fractions of organic matter were little influenced by different vegetation in regeneration, except the carbon fraction of humic acid, which is more sensitive to different management and soil usage.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o efeito da raiz de capim vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanioides (L.) Robert) sobre a resistência à penetração (RP) das margens do Baixo São Francisco. Mudas de vetiver foram plantadas no talude do rio, a fim de aumentar a resistência do solo aos processos erosivos, com avaliações de Resistência à Penetração (RP) realizadas em profundidades de 0 a 0,20, 0,20 a 0,40, e 0,40-0,60 m em diferentes situações (próximo à planta e, nas entre linhas). Dados de RP foram obtidos utilizando um penetrômetro automatizado. Amostras de solo foram coletadas para a determinação da umidade assim como da textura do solo, que foi determinada por densimetria, a densidade das raízes pelo método monólito. Os resultados do RP, umidade, e estudos de densidade de raiz foram submetidos a análise de variância (p <0,05) e, em seguida, as médias foram comparadas pelo teste de Tukey utilizando o software SISVAR. As amostras próximas ao vetiver apresentaram uma RP média de 1793,94 kPa e umidade média de 11,78%, diferindo estatisticamente dos pontos amostrados nas entrelinhas. RP e umidade do solo não diferiram estatisticamente com a profundidade do solo. O capim vetiver produziu uma cobertura do solo adequada, levando a uma maior retenção de água e, consequentemente, uma redução da resistência à penetração.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the root of vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides (L.) Robert) on the soil Resistance to penetration (RP) in the margins of the lower São Francisco River. Vetiver grass seedlings were planted on the riverbank margins in order to increase soil resistance to erosion processes, and RP assessments were made at soil depths of 0-0.20, 0.20-0.40, and 0.40-0.60 m in different situations (near the plants and within rows). RP data was obtained using an automated penetrometer. Gravimetric moisture data was also collected, as well as particle size data by densimetry, and root density data by the monolith method. The results of the RP, moisture, and root density studies were subjected to analysis of variance (p <0.05) and then the averages were compared by the Tukey test using SISVAR software. The samples next to the vetiver grass showed an average RP of 1793.94 kPa and an average moisture content of 11.78%, statistically differing from that of the sampled points within rows. RP and soil moisture did not differ statistically at the depth assessed. The vetiver grass produced an adequate ground cover, leading to higher water retention and hence a reduced resistance to penetration.

RESUMO A serapilheira é uma das principais vias de retorno de nutrientes no sistema planta-solo-planta e sua determinação permite analisar a reestruturação de ambientes florestais antropizados. O conhecimento da produção da serapilheira é fundamental para determinar o potencial de regeneração de uma área por meio do aporte e ciclagem dos nutrientes. Objetivou-se neste estudo quantificar a produção de serapilheira e o aporte de carbono e dos nutrientes da fração foliar em áreas de ocorrência de Neossolos Quartzarênicos, com vegetação em diferentes estágios de regeneração, no Parque Nacional Serra de Itabaiana, em Sergipe. Em cada uma das áreas de Areias Brancas Abertas (ABA), Areias Brancas Intermediárias (ABI) e Areias Brancas Fechadas (ABF) instalaram-se coletores nos quais a serapilheira foi coletada mensalmente, de janeiro a dezembro de 2011. Em subamostras da serapilheira foram determinadas as quantidades de carbono (C), nitrogênio (N) e fósforo (P). Com a ação do fogo nas áreas de Areias Brancas do Parque da Serra de Itabaiana, ficou evidente que o mesmo altera o estado de equilíbrio dinâmico alcançado pelo ecossistema, logo, as condições nutricionais do solo são modificadas. Os acúmulos de C, N e P não apresentaram variação sazonal significativa, de acordo com a produção da serapilheira em cada área estudada, sendo que a área ABF proporcionou os maiores acúmulos destes elementos ao longo do período de avaliação.

ABSTRACT Litter is a major route of return of nutrients in the system plant-soil -plant and its determination allows to analyze the restructuring of anthropogenic forest environments. Knowledge of litter production is a critical in determining the potential for regeneration of an area through the intake and nutrient cycling. This study aimed to quantify the litter production and the carbon contribution and leaf fraction nutrients in areas of occurrence of Quartzipsamments with vegetation at different stages of regeneration in National Park Serra de Itabaiana in Sergipe, state. In each of the areas of Areia Branca Aberta (ABA), Areia Branca Intermediaria (ABI) and Areia Branca Fechada (ABF), settled collectors where the litter was collected monthly from January to December 2011. In the litter subsamples amounts of carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) were determined. Along with the action of fire in the areas of Areias Brancas of Serra de Itabaiana Park, it became clear that it changes the state of dynamic equilibrium achieved by the ecosystem, so the nutritional soil conditions are modified. The accumulation of C, N and P showed no significant seasonal variation according to the production of litter in each area studied, and the ABF area provided the largest accumulations of these elements throughout the evaluation period.

ABSTRACT Mangrove ecosystem dynamics and diverse human activities have led to a need for studies that give us a better understanding of the peculiarities of their soils. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physical and chemical soil attributes of mangrove forests located in the São Francisco River estuary, related to local ecological conditions. Two stations, divided into three forest types (fringe, basin and transition) were selected and five composite soil samples were collected from each forest type. Soil samples were submitted for chemical and physical analysis. The soil presented a sandy texture, with high organic matter and element content in the following order: Mg2+>Na+>Ca2+ >H+>K+>P>Al3+ and Fe2+ >Zn2+>Cu2+>Mn2+, respectively, with variations between the forests and stations. In general, the mangrove forests presented high fertility, especially in the basin forest, provided by vegetation development, showing a zoning trend for species in relation to soil fertility.

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a viabilidade da propagação vegetativa por meio do método de estaquia de sete espécies arbóreas de grande ocorrência na zona ripária do Baixo Curso do Rio São Francisco sergipano, submetidas a diferentes concentrações do fitorregulador AIB (ácido indolbutírico): 0, 2500 e 5000 mg.L-1, para potencialização de seu uso na composição da técnica de bioengenharia de solos. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o Inteiramente Casualizado (DIC) com três repetições, totalizando 21 tratamentos. O período de avaliação foi de 120 dias para cada espécie, sendo realizada coleta de dados quinzenalmente, totalizando oito avaliações por espécie. Os parâmetros avaliados foram: Taxa de sobrevivência, Taxa de enraizamento, Número de raízes formadas, Formação de calos e Peso de matéria seca de raízes. Entre as espécies estudadas, Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi apresentou os melhores resultados com esse método de propagação, com destaque para a concentração de 2500 mg.L-1.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the feasibility of vegetative propagation through cutting technique of seven tree species with strong occurrence in the riparian forest of the Lower São Francisco River in Sergipe State, under different concentrations of indolbutiric acid at 0, 2500, and 5000 mg.L-1, for potentialization of its use in soil bioengineering technique. It was used a complete random block design with three replicates, and a total of twenty-one treatments. The evaluation period was 120 days for each species, and the data collection was made in intervals of fifteen days, in a total of eight evaluations for each species. The evaluated parameters were: Survival Rate, callus formation, and Root Dry matter Weight. Among the studied species, Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi presented the best results related to cutting technique mainly under the indolbutiric acid concentration of 2500 mg.L-1.

RESUMO A Bacia Hidrográfica do rio São Francisco, vem sendo submetida a fortes impactos ambientais por meio de alterações do regime hidrológico e sedimentológico, além de avançada destruição da sua mata ciliar. A vegetação ciliar possui importante função na proteção das margens dos rios promovida pela cobertura vegetal e seu sistema radicular, melhorando a agregação de um solo pouco coeso, diminuindo o arraste de partículas e, consequentemente resultando em menor taxa de erosão e assoreamento do curso d’água. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o crescimento inicial de espécies florestais em talude marginal submetido à técnica de bioengenharia de solos no rio São Francisco. A bioengenharia de solos foi composta pela cobertura longitudinal do talude com o biotêxtil (Tela Fibrax® 400BF), e em razão das variações diárias de cota do rio foram também utilizados retentores de sedimentos (Bemalonga® D40) para redução ao impacto da água na base do talude, evitando o solapamento promovido pelo fluxo e refluxo das ondas. Antes da fixação do biotêxtil, foram semeadas a lanço sementes da espécie Brachiaria decumbens para promoção de uma rápida cobertura vegetal. Em seguida foram plantadas mudas de seis espécies florestais nativas da região: aroeira vermelha (Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi.), pau-pombo (Tapirira guianensis Aubl.), mulungu (Erythrina velutina Willd.), tamboril (Enterolobium contortisiliquum (Vellozo) Morong), canafístula (Cassia grandis L.f.) e pau-ferro (Caesalpinia leiostachya (Bentham) Ducke). O desenvolvimento das mudas foi analisado por meio da Taxa de Crescimento Relativo de Altura da parte aérea e Diâmetro do colo. Após 360 dias, ao final das avaliações, observou-se que o maior número de indivíduos vivos foi identificado no tratamento com bioengenharia de solos. A grande densidade e agressivo crescimento da espécie Brachiaria decumbens na área com biotêxtil, trouxe danos para o desenvolvimento inicial das mudas arbóreas.

ABSTRACT The São Francisco River Basin has been submitted to strong environmental impacts through changes in the hydrologic and sedimentological regime, and also the ongoing destruction of its riparian vegetation. The riparian vegetation has an important role on the riverbank’s protection, through the roots system and the plant cover, improving the soil particles aggregation in a low cohesion situation, reducing the runoff and resulting in a lower erosion rate and sedimentation of the river channel. The objective of study was to evaluate the initial development of forest species at riverbank under soil bioengineering technique in São Francisco River. The soil bioengineering technique was composed of longitudinal slope covered with the biotextile (Fibrax 400 BF) and sediment retainers (Bemalonga® D40), to reduce the impact of wave water at the slope botton, avoiding the bank undercutting, due to daily variations of water level. Before the biotextile installation the specie, Brachiaria decumbens was sown to promote rapid cover vegetation. Six forest native species such as aroeira vermelha (Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi.), pau pombo (Tapirira guianensis Aubl.) mulungu (Erythrina velutina Willd.) tamboril (Enterolobium contortisiliquum (Vellozo) Morong), canafístula (Cassia grandis Lf) and pau-ferro (Caesalpinia leiostachya (Bentham) Ducke) were planted. The species developments were analyzed through the Relative Growth Rate (RGR) of the shoot height and crown diameter. After 6 (six) months, by the end of evaluations, the bigger number of live individuals was identified in the soil bioengineering treatment. The high density and strong growth of Brachiaria decumbens in the area with biotextile, have contributed to the lower initial tree seedlings development.
